We’re all aware that our very well-paid Premier league footballers love to spend their loose change on a never-ending stream of exotic and expensive wheels, but it seems – almost to a man – they’re planning a big spending spree when they return from Brazil. Magnitude Finance – a go-to finance company for high-end purchases – has revealed that thirteen of the current England squad are clients and that they have big plans for their car fleets when they get back from Brazil – whether they win and get a reputed £350k win bonus or not. The most popular cars being lined up by the players include the new Range Rover, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster and the Ferrari 458 Spider.
I’m not too sure it will help much with sales at the moment, but it has been announced that Aston Martin are to become the first company to use Microsoft’s Surface Device in UK Car showrooms. The Surface device is in essence a glitzy coffee table, with a built in PC running the new software from Microsoft. Based on the software Aston Martin currently uses on its website, the device allows the salesman to configure the car on a coffee table screen, with changes of colour and wheels showing on the screen.
The Cadillac Ciel concept, a four-seat convertible, has just been revealed at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. "The Ciel is about the romance of the drive," says Clay Dean, global design director of Cadillac. "It emulates the great touring cars seen on the greens at Pebble Beach, but with a modern flair that projects Cadillac's vision for the future."
Interior design manager Gael Buzyn says, "Simplicity and lightness ensure nothing distracts from the open driving experience, while the color and materials lend the feeling that the vehicle's environment blends with the surroundings."
The four-door Cadillac Ciel concept was developed with a long, low proportion, reminiscent of classic automobiles, while the interior features Italian olive wood, machined aluminum and hand-tipped leather.
